Hope & Homes
Imagine not having the sense of belonging, or the emotional support that being part of a family provides. We believe that, above all else, children need a loving family and a place to call home. We work together with children, their families, communities, professionals, NGOs and governments across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa to ensure that institutionalisation is a thing of the past, and that no child has to grow up deprived of the love and care of a family.
Empower The Gambia
Empower the Gambia’s aim is to train and resource women and children to alter their destinies.
While libraries, a deaf unit and dining facilities have been built, it has been completed by using local builders, suppliers and in agreement with the communities they serve. First aid, football and organic gardening training has been offered to the villages and schools provided by local speaking trainers or supported by UK based charities such as First Aid 4 Gambia.
Sponsoring children to go to school who were nominated by their own communities, while employing the local tailor to make their uniform. These are all examples of what Empower the Gambia has been able to achieve through donations, tithes, sponsorship and grants.
Practical Action
We don’t believe in hand outs or temporary measure. For 40 years Practical Action has helped the world’s poorest people to improve their lives, for today and for generations to come.
The solution is a floating farm. Just £24.40 could pay for two floating vegetable beds, so that a family can eat, all year round.
Hamlin Fistula Charity UK
We are dedicated to restoring the health and dignity of women who have survived devastating avoidable childbirth injuries, including the horrendous – and preventable – injury obstetric fistula.
Founded in Ethiopia by pioneering Australian surgeons Catherine and Reg Hamlin, our work reflects a lifetime quest to provide world best treatment to the some of the most marginalised women in the world.
