The Inner Wheel Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh
President 2023/24 Margaret Adams
I am very happy to serve our active club as President for a second time. We do hope that this will be a very special year of wonderful celebrations for International Inner Wheel and especially for the Association in Great Britain and Ireland, the organisation’s founding nation. Our club has some plans being put together, to mark the Centenary in our own special way, which we hope all our club members will enjoy.
Alongside the fun, we shall hopefully raise some funds to support my chosen charity for the year; Cowshed.
Who we are
We are a club of 38 members who meet on the third Thursday of every month at Sonning Golf Club in Duffield Road, Sonning, Berkshire, RG4 6GJ – see map below – where we gather for a chat and a drink at 7.15 for 7.45 pm and then enjoy a two-course meal, which is usually followed by an interesting speaker.
We also get together in smaller groups for coffee mornings, ladies dining, local walks, craft sessions, and have thriving bridge and book clubs.

Who we support
This year our lead charity is The Cowshed, which offers free, high-quality essential items like clothing, bedding, and toiletries to those in personal crisis. Their goal is to deliver directly to clients across Berkshire. Services are available to families in financial hardship, the homeless, refugees, and other vulnerable groups, referred by professionals. Our community projects of knitting and sewing continue to support other local charities and blankets for the Hamlin Fistula Foundation.
We are actively involved with Talking Newspapers and Befriending the Blind.
