Our President

The Inner Wheel Club of Banbury

President 2023/24

Catherine Cunningham

Welcome to our club webpage, The Inner Wheel Club of Banbury is continuing to promote friendship and service wherever we can.

This year Catherine is returning to the role of President for a second time. She hopes to continue to foster the great friendships that exist within our club. Her chosen charity for the year is the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. Having holidayed around the UK in her caravan for many years, Catherine is always keen to visit local lifeboat stations and is always in awe of the dedication of the volunteer crews, who risk their own lives to help others in trouble on the water. The RNLI was established in 1824, so this charity will mark its bi-centenary in our Inner Wheel centenary year. We hope to have a speaker from the charity attending one of our meetings to talk about their important work but will also look forward to other quality speakers and also spending some fun social time with one another. Catherine would also like us to support our local Foodbank by donating items in the approach to Christmas.

President Catherine and other members get to grips with turning 100!!!!!.

Who we are

We are a group of women who enjoy the fun and fellowship of working together on fundraising events and serving our community. Members have a wide range of outside interests, whether still working or retired, and share common values. Our speakers are informative and entertaining and our meetings always provide an opportunity to socialise with friends. We meet on the second Friday of each month at 2.30pm in Banbury Cricket Club, Whitepost Road, Bodicote, Banbury. In June & July we meet on the second Thursday of the month at 7pm.

Inner Wheel is historically linked to Rotary International and our club continues to work in collaboration with both the Banbury Rotary clubs on many local projects.

Who we support

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the RNLI is ready to save lives. Powered by courage, determination and the support of generous supporters.

Their volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, and seasonal lifeguards look after people on busy beaches. RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,700 lives since 1824 but are more than just a rescue service.

They also influence, supervise and educate people about staying safe at sea. Community Safety teams explain the risks and share safety knowledge with anyone going out to sea or to the coast. And our international teams work with like-minded organisations to help tackle drowning in communities at risk all around the world.

We shall also continue to support the work of the Banbury Foodbank, providing essential tinned and dried food items to the community.
