Cosham

Where and when we meet

Cosham are part of
Inner Wheel District 11, and we meet at:

Church of the Resurrection Hall,
Penrhyn Avenue
Drayton,
Portsmouth,
PO6 2AP

Meetings are held at 2.15pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month except August.

About the Town

Cosham is a northern suburb of Portsmouth lying within the City boundary of Portsmouth.  It is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 along with Drayton and Wymering.  We have rail links to London and Southampton and beyond.  Cosham is near to all the attractions that Portsmouth and Southsea has to offer including the Naval Heritage area in and around Portsmouth Dockyard.  At the north of Cosham lies Portsdown Hill with its area of Special Scientific Interest and the Grade 11 listed buildings of Fort Purbrook and Fort Widley, two of the six ‘Palmerston’s Forts’ built on the hill in the 1860’s to defend the City.

About the Club

We are a club of 23 members which was formed in 1951.
We are a friendly Club and even though small in numbers we are well known in our District and have produced many District Officers along the way since 1951.
We have interesting speakers at most of our meetings and hold a number of social and fund-raising events during the year ranging from coffee mornings in members’ homes to Charity lunches with a special speaker.
We socialise with our Rotary Club and we support each other on many occasions throughout the year.
Prospective members from all walks of life can be assured of a warm welcome.
