A Year of Anniversaries
Congratulations on our Club’s 40th Anniversary!

Club Chair Marjorie’s 80th Birthday
Marjorie set herself a target of 80 dips with the Pembrokeshire Bluetits Cold Water Swimming Club in the run up to her 80th birthday, braving sea temperatures of 9 degrees! With 80 dips achieved, Marjorie is now looking to complete 100 dips in celebration of the Association’s 100th Anniversary.
District’s 90th Anniversary
In honour of the District’s 90th Anniversary our passionate knitters are knitting 90 squares to create a huge celebration blanket.
Association’s 100th Anniversary
For the Association’s 100th anniversary, and in support of the Shine A Light project, we have prepared, and are selling 100 decorated and lit bottles, with the proceeds to go to the MND charity. Our display at the recent District Meeting generated £104 towards our fund raising goal. These were sold at the recent Dicken’s Fair, along side our Tombola. It was a brilliant day in the Market Square, not as cold as expected. We sold out of our toys very quickly and sold a few of our bottles. £230 was taken. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the event.

We are also making 100 cakes for the local Mary Ann Evans Hospice and walking 100 miles walked throughout the year.

About The Club
We are a friendly, active club of enthusiastic like-minded women. We have 15 members ranging in age from 40’s to eighties.
Individually, Club members are involved in a variety of community service activities including running a lunch club for older people, helping at the local hospital tea bar and at the Nuneaton Arts Festival.
As a Club we supply cakes every month for our local hospice and raise funds for local and international charities. At least 6 of our members attend Conference every year and members regularly attend District meetings and events organised by other local clubs.
Our monthly club meeting is usually held on the first Wednesday of each month. The meeting provides the opportunity to meet up, socialise and enjoy a meal with friends old and new and chatter. We usually have a short business meeting to discuss up and coming events for the coming months prior to a meal, which is usually followed by a speaker, who will briefly talk on a variety of informative, interesting and amusing subjects. Friendship and fun are the key elements of our meeting.
Remembrance Day
The club had representatives at a number of Remembrance Day Services. Marjorie, Gill and Wendy attended the service at Mancetter Church;
Members also attended services at Atherstone, Hartshill, Fillongley and Baddesly.
Association President Charity
Our Book Sale and Buffet Brunch Lunch with ‘B’ themed food was a huge success in raising over £100 for Association President Anthea’s charity, BEAT. The menu included delicious dishes such as Bruschetta, Bean Chilli, Bakewell Tart, and Blueberry Muffins, along with a glass of Bucks Fizz. It was a fantastic event that not only satisfied guests’ appetites but also contributed to a worthy cause.

Projects We Support
BLEED PACK DONATIONS
We have again demonstrated our commitment to community safety by donating ten Bleed packs.
The packs, which are already used in West Midlands Ambulance Service ambulances, contain essential medical supplies (bandages, tourniquets, dressings, and other crucial equipment). Integrating these packs into community defibrillator boxes ensures those in need have access to emergency assistance and life-saving resources. Donations were made to: the Laurel Gardens Care Home, Hartshill Community Centre, The Malt Shovel pub in Hartshill, and the Womens Institute in Ridge Lane, including the First Responders who oversee the defibrillator units in several locations.
Funds were raised through coffee mornings and a generous donation from a local Family. Lynne Baird MBE, also contributed two packs and expressed her admiration for club. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Daniel Baird Foundation for its continued support in making this donation possible.
The Daniel Baird Foundation was established in memory of Daniel Baird who was just 26 when he was fatally stabbed during a night out with friends in Digbeth in 2017. They focus on raising awareness of the importance of having publicly accessible bleeding control packs available.
SHINE A LIGHT AWARD
We have prepared 100 decorated and lit bottles in recognition of the Association’s 100th Anniversary theme, ‘100 for 100’, and this years International Inner Wheel theme, ‘Shine A Light’, which brings a focus on ‘Brightening Lives For The Future’ and ‘Mental Wellness Brightens Lives’.
We have also decorated a Christmas Tree with 100 lights and 100 baubles that will be on public display for the at Ansley Church weekends during December.
In recognition of the effort we have made, and the funds being raised for Motor Neurone Disease, District Chair Liz Ostroumoff, presented us with a certificate on behalf of the Association, that recognised the Club’s contribution in supporting this years themes.
