Inner Wheel District 25

Inner Wheel District 25

About District 25

District 25 comprises Surrey and West Sussex in which there are eight Inner Wheel Clubs: Chichester, Cuckfield & Lindfield, Godalming, Guildford, Hove, Lewes, Midhurst & Petworth and Seaford, with in all 222 members.
Surrey (below the M25) and West Sussex are both very beautiful. Surrey is known to be the county with the most trees. Our two counties cover both the North and South Downs – which is a National Park. Our local MP is trying to have the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty turned into a National Park also. Because of the beauty of the area, the National Trust owns a lot of grand old houses here, many of which are open to the public. Many towns have their own Museum, there is the Cranleigh and South Eastern Agricultural Society for the farming communities.

District Chairman

District Chairman Kay Young

Welcome

‘A very warm welcome to you all, whether new or long-standing members, as we begin our new Inner Wheel year 2025/6.

‘As many might have realized, I have taken on Chairman for a second year.
Unfortunately, no one stepped forward to take over from me, so here I am again.  Some would say I am a glutton for punishment, but I say that I am really fortunate to have another bite of the cherry.  I really enjoyed my (first) year and am looking forward to my second.  Yes, like every post in Inner Wheel there is work to be done, but that is all part of being a Member of an International organisation.

‘Do think about taking on a post within your Club or at District level.  I get out much more than I put in.  We have a very friendly Exec. (District Executive Committee) and I think my most enjoyable part of the job is to visit you all in your Clubs and meet most of your members.  So step up girls, whether you are a new Member or someone who has previously taken on a role, and enjoy all it has to offer.  Also, I very much hope those of you who haven’t yet attended our District meetings will come and see what you are missing. It is a chance to meet many other Ladies from our District, make new friends and get to know each other more easily.
‘I have really enjoyed meeting so many of you in the past, and please invite me to your fundraising and other events this year so that I can meet you or become more acquainted.
Best wishes in Friendship
Kay

Who we support

‘This year my charity is for Dementia, again something that some of your members may be coping with, or will have to in the future.’

Taken from the Dementia UK website – “Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia – it’s one of the biggest health challenges of our time. Families affected are often left feeling exhausted and overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn. But with the support of an Admiral Nurse and Dementia UK, families facing the fear and confusion of dementia know they’re not alone.”
