Our Club
We are a very informal club with a very small committee who share the roles and the presidency. We meet regularly and enjoy our friendships. Several of us attend the District meetings, events, and rallies. We have coffee mornings and arrange interesting speakers. Over several years we have regularly supported the Mali project in India. We collect for the shoebox appeal and have raised money for Alzeimer’s Research this year as well as Air Ambulance. We have 19 members and spend time supporting each other.
Where do we meet?
Bideford is part of Inner Wheel District 17 and we meet at:
Royal Hotel EX39 4AE
When do we meet?
Meetings are held at 14:00pm on the first Thursday of every month. If you are interested in joining us, please email

Our Friend Wendy Lea
Wendy had a severe stroke and after several weeks in hospital sadly died on Thursday 1st February, 2024.
We are thinking of her husband David and all her children and Grandchildren to whom we send our sincere condolences.
Wendy Lea was not only a member of Bideford Inner Wheel and a valued personal friend, she was a friend to many ladies in our District. She always attended meetings, Rallies, Coffee mornings, quizzes and outings near and far. She loved Inner Wheel as you all can testify, holding positions both in our club and at District Level.
Wendy loved being involved and she attended, together with many of her Club, District, National and International meetings over many years. She always had a ready smile and a positive attitude to life, totally unselfish or self-regarding. She was always generous in giving lifts to people and filling her car so that no one was left out, and she always found time to visit older members and friends in ill health.
She filled each day with new adventures and in retirement put her immense energy into several organisations. Wendy was a wonderful lady who could always be relied upon.
We shall miss her, but we will remember her smile.
Who We Support 2023 – 2024
PROJECT MALA UNITED KINGDOM
Project Mala was founded in 1989 as an action programme for the abolition of child labour in the hand-knotted carpet industry in India. We provide education for children in the carpet weaving belt. Our programme includes education up to the secondary school level, a hot midday meal for all children and healthcare facilities. 80% of the funding comes from individual child sponsors.

In November we have sent 12 Shoeboxes to support the work of CR2EE – Christian Response in Eastern Europe. The whole District has been shining a light on this local Charity.
