What do we do?

We enjoy our meetings and try to make a difference by our local and international service.

We celebrated the 90th Birthday of one of our members with a Cream Tea at a local garden centre, and some members also enjoyed yet another Cream Tea prepared by the leaders of Selsdon Guiding as a Thank You for the club enabling the fitting of the kitchen in their refurbished Guiding Hut.

We have held a lunch in aid of Cancer Relief, a charity coffee morning and plant sale, and a bring your own picnic and play scrabble in aid of The Children’s Society. Our lunchtime speaker topics have included Salacious Stories of Royalty, The Children’s Society, and the charity Woodlarks by our District Chairman Jennie.

We now support Sight Savers and Mary’s Meals.

It has been wonderful being able to meet in person again and we will continue to enjoy our meetings and events.

A History of Purley Club

Initially Purley Inner Wheel had 14 members, President was Mrs. Shruball, Vice President Mrs Rawlinga and Secretary Mrs Weightman. Meetings were held for many years at Purley Baptist Church Hall at 2pm on Mondays and at the time were very formal as the ladies had to wear hats and gloves.

After a while meetings were held at Purley Hall United Reformed Church near the library. Lunch was included and formality relaxed, and the venue was then changed again to the Chateau.

Fundraising events included Fashion shows and Afternoon tea.
