District Chairman
District Chairman Pat Hayes
Welcome
District Chairman Pat is a member of the Astley Club, having only 12 members, she is currently club secretary. She is grateful for their support during her year in office, especially to her chosen charity Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
Pat is serving a second year as District Chairman for which members are grateful, she will be ‘coaching’ Vice District Chairman Anita during the year.
She is married to Frank, works in the family Scaffolding business. They spend a lot of time with their family – being fourteen of them with daughters, grandchildren and partners, sharing the workload, the children get along well, and they have a great time playing board games.
A little apprehensive at the beginning of her year, she has enjoyed her club visits and has been very interested in hearing what they are getting up to and what they are doing to keep their clubs going, along with meeting the members. On her visit to Rushen and Western Mann, she managed to have a little holiday and enjoy the sights of the Isle of Man.
She has enjoyed meeting with other District Chairman at the World Inner Wheel Day Service, the Association celebration lunch and International Convention, and of course her own District Rally with Association President Anthea being present.
Along with D5 Chairman and Manchester President she attended Rotary 1285 Conference where they were asked to give a speech celebrating 100 years of Inner Wheel.
At our December meeting the format was changed, after the necessary business part, members enjoying games and entertainment followed by a Christmas lunch.
In her second year as District Chairman, Pat has chosen to support local homeless people, ulcerative colitis, and epilepsy in children as her charities for her year in office.

Who we support
District Chairman Pat has chosen to support the homeless, ulcerative colitis, and epilepsy in children as her charities for her year in office.
A homeless person is someone who does not have a home, usually because they are poor. In the UK or abroad, a person is considered homeless if there is no accommodation available for them to occupy.
Ulcerative colitis is a long-term condition where the colon and rectum become inflamed.
In the UK, epilepsy affects around 60,000 children and young people under 18. Epilepsy can start at any age, including in childhood.
International Charity
The Charity chosen for our International Rally is Mary’s Meals, the competition is ‘Fill a Mug’ with items of your choice.
The mugs will be judged by our speaker, and a winner chosen, they will then be sold to raise further funds for the charity.
