About the Club

Chartered in 1938 we have just celebrated our 80th Charter Anniversary.
We meet on 2nd and 4th Monday evenings and enjoy a meal together.
With no meetings in August we traditionally enjoy a lunch or tea and in December we have as dinner or party – both these events with guests.
Meetings alternate with business and a speaker. As well as concentrate on friendship and enjoying social events, such as visits to the theatre or to local places of interest, we fund raise for chosen home and international charities . Some members knit and sew for good causes, help at the local hospital shop, or serve refreshments to social visitors at the local prison . We have a literary group which meets once a month and will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October. We also support Winchester Rotary Club with whom we share a meeting each year and some social events, and assist at some fund raising events.
Our current membership is 30. We are an aging group and are keen to welcome new younger blood and the ideas of new members with like minded enthusiasms.

About the Town

Historical Winchester is an ancient cathedral city which until recently housed an army barracks but is now home to a expanding university and Peter Symonds rapidly expanding sixth form college. It boasts a lively theatre and many social, artistic  and educational groups catering for all tastes and abilities, with a choice of exceptional concerts and some of the best buskers in the country, as well as many restaurants and bars.
Due to its vicinity and fast trains to London it has to be admitted it is an expensive place to live. Parking can be a nightmare, but we do have a good local bus service. It is within close distance of Southampton, Portsmouth and Salisbury for satisfactory shopping.
