Stirling

Stirling In Scotland is known as the ‘ Gateway to the Highlands’.  It is the smallest of Scotland’s Cities but also one of the most stunning and picturesque.
Enter the heady world of Scotland’s Renaissance Kings and Queens and discover the fascinating history of the city.  Stirling Castle is located on a craggy volcanic rock, at the highest point of the Abbey Craig outcrop, here the National Wallace Monument stands 91.44 meters above sea level. It’s total height is a 67 meters on the shoulder of the Abbey Craig. 246 steps takes you to the top where you will be rewarded with a most fantastic view over Wallace’s famous battle at Stirling Bridge.
The University of Stirling is ranked top 40 in the UK. The campus is situated on a magnificent 330-acre estate, Centred around a large loch and 18th -century Airthrey Castle. All facilities are a short walk from each other.
Scotlands only Safari park is on Stirlingshires Blairdrummond Estate, where on the 17th October this year a little white Rhinoceros calf was born to parents Dot and Graham. After a public vote staff at the park announced her name as Morag…
All in all a very lovely place to live…

75th Birthday Meeting

Stirling Inner Wheel celebrated its 75th Anniversary in style with a wonderful afternoon tea at the Court Hotel in Bridge of Allan. A great deal of effort went into making this a 5 star event – a cake, a quiz, a photo presentation, the induction of 2 new members and musical entertainment provided by The Big Noise Sistema Orchestra. However, the highlight of the afternoon was when President Teresa Hill read a letter the club had received from King Charles – who will also celebrate his 75th birthday later this month!

Tree planting

Members visited Cambusbarron primary school to plant a flowering Cherry Tree.  This was planted in memory of our Past President Judith Vaughn- Sharp – in the gardens of her  grandson Finlay’s primary school.  It was a lovely moment in memory of  Judith who  contributed so much to our Stirling Inner Wheel.
