Where do we meet?
Laurencekirk is part of Inner Wheel District 1, and we meet at the Panmure Arms Hotel, 52 High Street, Edzell. DD9 7TA. Meetings are held at 6.45pm for 7pm on the second Tuesday of the month. No formal meetings are held in July & August but coffee mornings, fundraising and social events continue throughout the year.
Our Club
Laurencekirk is one of the younger clubs in our District. We were chartered in 1985. We currently have 27 members. As well as the monthly meetings, members enjoy monthly coffee mornings, walks and outings as well as fundraising for local and international projects. Members of our local community knit squares which we sew together to create blankets for Blytheswood. The club recently produced this excellent poster to attract new members.
Inner Wheel Day
In place of a face to face meeting in January, our club held our meeting on Zoom – a most acceptable alternative on a cold, dark, windy & very wintry evening. Our speaker was none other than International Inner Wheel President, Trish Douglas who spoke to us from Manchester on the eve of the centenary.
Mearns Community Fayre
The club took a stall at the recent Mearns Community Fayre held at Mearns Academy in June. This was to advertise the work of the club and generate some interest in becoming a member. Business cards were given out to promote the club – using the above poster image and a QR code to this web page. Great idea ladies!
Supporting local events
In August several member of the club supported the local bingo nuight in aid of Gala Week wearing their new Inner Wheel polo shirts! A Rotarian husband with us was very successful – we ladies will have to try again next year!
Coffee Mornings
Our regular coffee meet up is held at Castleton Farm Cafe near Fordoun on the last Friday of the month, which is much enjoyed and well attended.

Blackpool Conference
Past President Frances travelled to Blackpool with friends from the Stirling Club and was part of a party of 30 from District 1 who enjoyed al th usual fun of a real face to face conference – after quite a gap due to Covid.
Just a flavour of the Conference, showing Frances attending the District Dinner & Link lunch with District 10 – many more pictures on main District 1 page
Trish’s Celebration
Members attended a celebration in the George Hotel at the beginning of July to celebrate the start of our centenary year and what will be an incredible year for our new International Inner Wheel President, Trish Douglas. Meeting up with lots of “old” friends. All photos of the event can be seen in post at the bottom of this page.
