About District 1
Our District covers a vast geographical area in the Northeast of Scotland. Our current clubs stretch from Inverness, the capital of the highlands, in the north, along the spectacular Moray coast to Nairn and Banff then south as far as Stirling and Dunfermline on the Firth of Forth. We have 17 clubs with under 500 members – 24 of those new this year. All clubs have a formal meeting each month except for July and August – with social events, coffee mornings, walks and fund- raising activities spread throughout the year.
The area is rich in culture and history with spectacular scenery – the high mountains of the Cairngorms with rivers and glens leading down to the gentler lowlands below; nature reserves where otters, ospreys, deer and red squirrels abound; and gigantic sea cliffs with colonies of migratory sea birds. The district is home to hundreds of castles and places of interest to visit. Here you can visit cities like Aberdeen – the oil capital if the UK; Dundee – now a UNESCO city of culture with the V & A museum; or the newly created city of Dunfermline. Opportunities abound to participate in hillwalking, fishing, playing golf or even curling. Another activity would be to visit one of the whisky distilleries along Speyside or go monster spotting on Loch Ness – the choice is endless!
District Chairman
District Chairman Lynda Taylor
Welcome
My name is Lynda Taylor, and I am a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Montrose, which I joined in 2005.
I took early retirement in 2002, having been a civil servant throughout my career. I worked in various establishments in England and Scotland, moving with my late husband during his career.
After I joined the Inner Wheel Club of Montrose, I was Club Correspondent and Club Treasurer before becoming Club President in 2019. Due to Covid, I held this position for two years . I had also become a member of the Association Finance Committee in 2019.
In 2021 I became District Treasurer, a position I held for three years before becoming 1st Vice Chairman in 2024. During this past year I have also been Club Secretary and Club Treasurer, positions I have now handed over to others.
I am looking forward to serving as your District Chairman, especially to meeting you all when I come out on my club visits. I also look forward to welcoming you to Montrose for our District Rally, which will be held on Friday 29th May 2026 in the Park Hotel – a date to save in your diaries.

Who we support
My charity for my year as District Chairman is Maggie’s.
Maggie’s have centres throughout the UK providing support to cancer patients and their families. They are built beside NHS hospitals and aim to help people take back control when cancer turns life upside down. They provide professional support about treatment and its side effects as well as financial advice and assistance about how to claim financial benefits to patients and their families. The centres are also open to those who just wish to drop in and find someone to talk to who will understand what they are going through.
There are 4 Maggie’s Centres located in our District – Maggie’s Highlands in Inverness, Maggie’s Aberdeen, Maggie’s Dundee and Maggie’s Fife in Kirkaldy.
