Poppies on Southend Pier.

Members of District 24 in Essex  joined in knitting and crocheting poppies to be included in this installation on Southend Pier, the longest  pleasure pier in the world.  They provided 622 which are included in the 110,471 sent from all over the United Kingdom and as far away as Australia.  Sandie Edwards and Chris Shaw handed over the District poppies at the Pier ready for them to be used.

This event has encouraged a lot of visitors and television interest and reminds everyone of the debt we owe to those who have, and still do, serve to keep us safe.

We enjoyed visiting and seeing if we could pick our poppies out.  They are on show until 16th November.
