About District 5
Inner Wheel District 5 is composed of 14 clubs, all located in the Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire region. Currently, we have in total 235 members. We are very proud to have the Founder Club of Manchester within our district, where the Inner Wheel story began just over 100 years ago.
Normally, each of our clubs holds a meeting of members once a month. For some clubs, this takes place in the evening, for others at lunchtime, and for others a combination of evening and lunchtime. During every Inner Wheel year, each club is engaged in their own way on a variety of fundraising activities with the proceeds being donated to a range of local, national and international charitable causes in fulfilling our mission of Friendship, Service and International Understanding. Welcome
Welcome to the new Inner Wheel year! I am deeply honored and thrilled to be your District Chairman. As we step into a new chapter together, I would like to celebrate the incredible spirit, dedication and warmth that define our clubs across our District. From the historic roots of the first Inner Wheel Club founded here in Manchester in 1924, our ethos has always been Friendship and Service.
Our clubs are more than just gathering places. They are networks of compassionate women coming together to support one another, uplift our local communities and make a lasting difference. Whether we are raising vital funds, volunteering time or simply enjoying each other’s company, every action reflects our commitment on helping others.
I joined Inner Wheel after meeting a member of Hazel Grove Club at the local swimming baths, and so my journey in the Inner Wheel began in 2011. I have held the posts of Club President, District Treasurer and District Secretary and have learnt much about the organisation.
This year I encourage all of us to continue fostering the spirit of togetherness. Let us welcome new members, support our charitable endeavors and strengthen the bonds that make District 5 so special.

Who we support
My chosen charity for the year is Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Pancreatic cancer is the 10th most common cancer in the UK. It is difficult to detect, is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, and survival rates are extremely poor.
One in four people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in England survive their disease for one year or more, with emergency presentation the most common route to diagnosis.
The difficulty is pancreatic cancer can be very hard to diagnose as symptoms are vague, ambiguous and can be caused by other conditions. Early diagnosis, however, is critical to improving outcomes and survival, and understanding the risk factors and symptoms is key.
Christian Relief Uganda was established in 1996 to support the pioneer work of missionary Maria Maw (MBE) In helping children and families in the underprivileged of Kamuli in the Busoga region of Uganda today.
CRU funding provides: education at all levels, help to needy families , individuals and sponsorship schemes
