D21 TV star marks club’s 87th birthday

TV auctioneer Charles Hanson gave up his gavel for the evening to join Whitchurch Inner Wheel’s birthday fellowship celebrations on Monday.
The club, which was founded in 1939, was celebrating its 87-year history with a dinner at Tern Hill Hall Hotel, Market Drayton.
And what a wonderful evening we all had.
Club President, Carole Wareham, invited our newest member, Brenda Parker to cut the cake, District 21 Chairman, Nesta Williams, reminded us that when the club was chartered, petrol was 1/6d a gallon – those were the days – and Whitchurch Rotary president Brian Acty thanked club members for our support for their charities and especially for the help we gave with their prostate testing event.
The evening finished with an entertaining talk by Charles Hanson on his career as an auctioneer and life as a TV personality on the ‘Bargain Hunt’ and ‘Flog It!’ programmes.
