D7 The Inner Wheel Club of Kettering 90th Charter

D7 The Inner Wheel Club of Kettering 90th Charter

The Inner Wheel Club of Kettering celebrated their 90th Charter with style and charm, on the 14th July 2025.

Recreating when they received their Charter and the fashion of the day in 1935, members of District 7 were asked to wear hats and gloves. Some of us grumbled, but on the day, it was lovely to see everyone in their hats and with over 90 members attending, not one duplicate hat was worn.

We were welcomed by joint Presidents Lesley Johnson and Pat Smith

Special guest was Association President Pam Boyes and we were entertained by Megan Cleasby, the granddaughter of President Lesley.

Ann Buckby told us the story of that day, a very different one to the minutes archived for that year. Mrs Jessie McKibbon was the founder President and later became the Founder Chairman of District 7 in 1939.

We enjoyed a delicious tea at the Kettering Park Hotel, lots of sandwiches, cakes and the tea and coffee flowed.

All the attendees received a memento of the day, a lovely bookmark.

Well done Kettering you did yourselves proud.

If you would like to know the real story of what happened on that day in 1935 you will have to wait for the next Magnificent 7 in November!
