Some of The Manchester Club went to Lytham St. Anns for their annual 40s Weekend, where everyone walks around in military uniforms, grandma’s cross-over aprons with headscarfs with hair rollers peeping out, Nurses, Doctors, mothers pushing babies in the huge Swan Prams.
President Joan Johnstone decided to go in her Salvation Army Uniform BUT wearing her bonnet, which they haven’t worn for about twenty years. She took a small collecting tin with her (just in case people wanted to donate – and they did), however she was arrested by the local bobby for not carrying a tambourine. It was great fun.
