D6 International Service Update: Beryl Bryant

D6 International Service Update: Beryl Bryant

At the International Service Rally last May, we received a comprehensive update from Jane Kaye-Bailey, the founder (with her late husband) of The Butterfly Tree charity in Zambia. The charity has transformed the lives of orphans and vulnerable people living in rural areas, and this Inner Wheel year we shall be doing our best to help Jane as much as we can to make a positive difference in her area of work. Although it will be fairly modest in the scale of help needed, what we are able to contribute will be well received I know.

Julie Ramsay, Association IS Chairman, is currently supporting Mary’s Meals. This includes the collection of discontinued currencies (paper and coin), as well as current foreign currency. This can be repatriated and, if a good enough exchange rate prevails, will further add to the support we can give. If you don’t want to send your
offerings directly to Mary’s Meals, you can take them to a District meeting and I will deal with them.

I’m sure you will be using needles and pins to create much-needed clothing and other items, for a third year of help in Ukraine. The priorities list will be with you soon, and I know that, once again, you will all do your very best to put those busy fingers where your hearts are. The recipients are doubly pleased to receive your gifts: they are sorely needed, and it raises the spirits to know that others, not necessarily of their own country, do care.
