District Chairman

District Chairman Lyn Redman

Welcome

Ladies, I would like to welcome you all to this new Inner Wheel Year. I am a relatively new member having joined the Inner Wheel club of Wellingborough in 2016. I was soon Club Secretary and then Club President. My first year as Club President was during Covid lockdown and meetings were on Zoom and conversations were by phone or at a distance on the doorstep. I took on the role again a few years later and got so much more out of it. At a District meeting I volunteered to become a zone leader and, fairly quickly,  volunteered for the role of District Editor. I have really enjoyed my time on the District Executive as I have learnt so much and forged some wonderful friendships.

I love the fact that Inner Wheel is a global women’s organisation supporting our local and national communities, as well as seeing beyond borders to help those less fortunate than ourselves. One of the big global problems is abuse against women and girls - as you already know from the “Orange the World” campaign. Closer to home I have chosen “Refuge” as my charity for the year. Refuge offers temporary, safe accommodation to women and children alongside guidance, counselling and support.

During this year I want you to realise how wonderful you all are and what we can achieve together, one tiny piece at a time, because…………………….

We are Inner Wheel
We are Women of Action
We are Women raising Awareness
We are Women supporting Women
We are Women serving our Community
We are Women who make a Difference
We are Women who Care
We are …..

I look forward to sharing the coming year with you all.

In friendship

Who we support

Support will also be given to President Pat's chosen charity, Papyrus www.papyrus-uk.org

The International charity remains as Mary's Meals

There is gender inequality in education around the world, but by providing daily meals in school, we remove one hugely significant barrier for girls, giving them opportunities that they otherwise may not have.
