Club President

Christine Sivori

Introducing the 100th. President of the Founder Club of Manchester

Christine Sivori joined the IW Club of Stockport nearly 40 years ago.

When that Club closed, Christine transferred her membership to the IW Club of Manchester, where she has held several offices including that of Club Treasurer.

Joining the District Committee in 2012 as District Secretary, Christine was elected to the role of District Chairman  in 2017

In that year, Christine was honoured to receive the prized Margarette Golding Award. This was in recognition of her amazing work with the charity LIFESHARE – a city-centre based charity,

Lifeshare was established to meet the needs of homeless and vulnerable young people in Manchester – aiming to protect them from modern-day slavery and helping them to move forward.

Christine had already been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship by the members of the East Manchester Rotary Club- who recognised her dedication to the Charity.

Club News

Following a delicious lunch at our March meeting, members were treated to a humorous talk by our member, Pat Castle – who caused much laughter with her stories of “Holiday Disasters – in Stilettos”

Pat and her late husband, Alfie, enjoyed many exciting holidays visiting  countries in different parts of the world. Stiletto heeled shoes were always an accessory to her outfit – whatever the occasion. Alfie much admired her style.

However, the adrenalin filled fun of white water rafting – in stilettos – caused some concern among fellow passengers. Riding a camel in the desert – in stilettos – was  a great thrill – until it came to dis-mounting! Just two examples of several!
As we heard of each “disaster”, Pat produced the glamorous stiletto shoe that had caused the problem. Quite a collection. Quite a story. Thank you, Pat.

VISIT OF DISTRICT CHAIRMAN DIANA

Traditionally, Club members welcome the District Chairman as our guest at the October meeting.
On October 10th.DC Diana joined us for lunch at the Manchester Hall.
In her address Diana told us of her early years growing up in Egypt, being educated at a French school and spending some time living in Italy and Germany.
No surprise then that, on joining Inner Wheel in 1980, Diana was drawn to the International aspects of Inner Wheel service.
During her special year of office.Diana wants all members to engage in TRUE FRIENDSHIP – based on caring for each other and working together to make the world a better place.

Club President, Christine, thanked Diana for her uplifting words and presented her with a gift as a reminder of her visit to the Founder Club.
