Association President Pam Boyes with D5 Chairman Hamida Adkins
Approximately 70 people attended the D5 Rally on a windy but dry day in the beautiful surroundings of the Mere Court Hotel. District Chairman Hamida Adkins welcomed us all together with the Executive and guests from our neighbouring districts. After lunch Greetings were were brought from Elaine Day of District 128 and Dorothy Lee-Ogden of District 18.
Association President Pam spoke movingly of her Charity Ronald McDonald House which provide comfortable apartments for those visiting their family member in Hospice care so that they could be close by without having to travel long distances each day. She thanked everyone for their support. She also told us how pleased she was to know of our District’s involvement in “Orange the World” mentioning the Walk in Manchester City Centre, the “Orange” display in a local library and the illumination of a church together with leaflets etc. to raise awareness about stopping violence against Women & Girls.
To round it all off Hamida had arranged for the Sacred Heart Choir from Gorton to entertain us with ‘a touch of Africa” which of course prompted her to encourage us to dance the afternoon away. What a great day of Inner Wheel friendship and fun !
