Inner Wheel District 19

About District 19

Welcome to District 19 Inner wheel.

There are 14 Clubs in District 19 spread across the Lake District and Cumbria from Brampton & Longtown Inner Wheel Club Penrith down through North Lancashire to Blackburn IW Club and to the east Bacup Inner Wheel Club. So a vast but beautiful area to cover.
Clubs meet monthly, some twice a month organising events including speakers, outings, fundraising initiatives and lots of fun activities for local charities and those overseas.
District 19 Executive and members meet four times a year November, March, June and July (Assembly and Charity speaker), plus we hold an International Rally in October and our District Rally/Celebration this year will be on 16 March 2026.  Our District is to celebrate being formed the year I was born, and because it is my second year as District Chairman we are to hold a more informal party based on the poem  “When I am old I will wear purple with a red hat” when we will be able to dress accordingly if we wish to.
We combine friendship and fun to support our local communities and provide aid internationally. We are enormously proud to be part of a worldwide IIW organization, active in 103 countries with some 120,000 members.

District Chairman

District Chairman Beryl Cuff

Welcome

I’m fairly new to the District, although I’ve been a member of Inner Wheel since 1977, in District 17. I have been a member of Barrow Club for three years since moving up to be closer to family, including a brand new great grandson as of May. I have served as District 17 Chairman many years ago, and I look forward to getting to know District 19 more thoroughly when I make my club visits over the next year.

Who we support

Leading on from the poem of “When I am old I will wear purple with a red hat” purple is also the colour of my chosen charity for this year – Papyrus.

Some of you will know of the Three Dads Walking who have walked miles in memory of their 3 daughters who sadly died from suicide.

Suicide is the biggest killer of under 35-year-olds today, and so I wanted to support this worthwhile charity who are there for those in need, offering a 24-Hour Help Line.

International Charity

The International charity we wish to support this coming year is based in Poland with links to a school in Ukraine. All monies are sent direct to the school to enable them to purchase computers etc themselves.
