Inner Wheel District 16

About District 16

District 16 is the only District within GB&I which straddles two countries, Southern  Ireland which is an independent country and Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom.

District 16 is made up of 14 Clubs in both parts of Ireland and operates as a single District.
The border between the two parts of Ireland is only a line on a map.   Ireland is made up of 32 counties 26 in the South and 6 in the North.   Ireland is known for its multi shades of green and the friendliness of the people.   We have many wonderful places to visit,  The Giants Causeway, Bushmill Distillery (The oldest in the world) and of course the famous Titanic Building.   There is the Guinness Factory and The Mountains of Mohr and Kilmainham Goal.   Many well know actors and sports personalities have come from Ireland.
Our members combine friendship and fellowship to positively impact the local community and provide aid internationally. We function as part of a Worldwide Inner Wheel organisation which is active in 100 counties with over 100,000 members.

District Chairman

District Chairman Judith De Fleury

Welcome

Hello,  as this year’s chairman for Ireland I would like to assure you of a very warm welcome to any of our clubs.

Although our primary objective is fellowship and fun our activities help to make a difference in our local communities with practical and financial support. Working in this way strengthens friendships and gives us sense of purpose especially to those who have retired.

Our friendships extend beyond our own clubs with District meetings 5 times a year where we enjoy a meal and exchange ideas and have fun.

Celebrating our centenary in 2024 has been wonderful,  meeting with members of clubs from 53 countries at the  convention in Manchester  really brought home the vast extent of our organisation and the good we achieve worldwide.

If you feel you would like to be a part of this please come and join us we look forward to meeting you

The  ageing population without family support are often isolated by poor health, restricted mobility and financial problems.
Age Concern and Alone provides practical, emotional and financial help to access the benefits and entitlements they need.
