About District 15
District 15 covers the counties of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire on the West coast of Wales, part of Powys in Mid Wales and across the South Wales counties to Gwent in the East. All clubs meet at least once a month (apart from August) with fun and fellowship on the agenda.
Our activities include lots of coffee mornings, lunches and afternoon teas. This is often where we raise money for charities, and where we come up with more interesting ideas on how to do so whilst we are socializing and enjoying each other’s company. Recent fundraising ventures have included a sponsored walk along the entire Pembrokeshire Coastal Path (not all at once), making masks during the Covid pandemic and a Zipworld Challenge.

District Chairman Sonia Stevens
Welcome
I joined Inner Wheel in 2008 after hearing about it from the wife of an incoming Rotary President at a handover dinner. I thought I’d like to find out more and agreed to go for a taster evening to the Inner Wheel Club of Pontllanfraith. Communication wires had gotten a little crossed so when I attended, the club thought I was transferring from another club, and I went home a full signed up member! I have never regretted it.
I was working full time back in 2008 so my ability to participate in social events was limited, then, when I retired in 2014, along came the grandchildren and Nanna days were always on a Tuesday so I wasn’t always able to attend club meetings either. That all changed for me during Covid in 2020, when the Club moved to Zoom Meetings for the duration and I was able to dedicate much more time. I became Club President for 2021/2022 and 2022/2023. I have been a Club Treasurer twice, the first time from 2009/10 to 2011/12 and from 2023/2024 to 2024/2025.
Being a member has shown me how, as Women of Action, we all make a difference and truly are at the Heart of our Community. I have made many new friends and if anyone is reading this is considering joining, please don’t hesitate – you will enjoy the friendship, fellowship and laughter, as well as making a difference to the lives of those less fortunate, both locally, nationally and internationally.

Who we support
Our chosen charity for this year is Mary’s Meals International. It is an organisation actively supported by my home club of Pontllanfraith and I feel that even the smallest donations make a huge difference to children’s lives in the poorest parts of the world. Just £19.15 will feed a child for a whole school year.
What’s important to us is the hungry child. When there are hungry children in front of us today, we’re going to feed them, and at the same time, we’re going to work on the solution to getting them fed in the long term, creating a global movement of people who believe in this vision.

International Charity
Globally, there are millions of children who are deprived of an opportunity to learn. On an individual basis, a SchoolBag for these children can provide vastly improved learning capabilities, hope and a lifeline to a future out of poverty. On a world scale, educating the next generation is a key force to human development and global stability.
