Following another very successful quiz night organised by question masters Tom and Deirdre Griffin, members were informed that almost £1300 had been raised for Woodbridge Dementia. This eagerly anticipated annual event is already being organised for March 6th 2026.

At the March meeting, having eaten a delicious meal, members sat back to relax and listen to fellow member, Pat Clarke, recall her very interesting career in the ‘Rag Trade’. Her natural elegance may have given a hint as to what she was going to talk about, but there was a murmur of surprise as she explained how, after having completed a modelling course in London’s Bond Street, she was employed to model the trending fashions of the early to mid-sixties, a time when clothes boutiques were being introduced to the high street. It all sounded incredibly glamorous until she mentioned travelling by train to London with her hair in curlers whilst applying her makeup.

At the meeting in April, members were reminded of the up and coming Knit and natter dates where fish and chip baby outfits are knitted whilst having a catch up and enjoying a coffee and cake.  Cakes were requested from members who like to bake for the memory café which  continues to be a very popular place to visit from 10.30 am on the last Wednesday of each month at Woodbridge Football Club.  If you know someone with memory loss, they are welcome to attend with a carer. Still with cakes in mind, Deirdre Griffin is holding a coffee morning May.

Woodbridge IW members meet at Ufford Park Hotel at 6.30 pm on the first Thursday of each month. Find out more about the club and its aims and objectives at District 8 https://innerwheel.co.uk  or come and meet members at the V.E. Day activities in Elmhurst Park, Woodbridge May 10th.
