D8 Ely Inner Wheel and Solar Aid

Ely Inner wheel held their annual International Fundraising event in May.
Guests included Inner Wheel members from clubs around East Anglia, District
Chairman Angela Leggett- Bond and members of Ely Rotary. The afternoon tea
was held to raise funds for the charity SOLAR AID. Speaker Richard Turner
gave a presentation on the work they are doing in Malawi and other parts of
sub Saharan Africa. The charity sources and tests solar lights and panels to
supply people and local groups in areas where there is no electricity. They
have recently completed a project called Light a Village where larger solar
panels are set up and installed to supply houses schools and small businesses
greatly improving their quality of life. After question time this was followed
by a superb afternoon tea of sandwiches cakes sausage rolls and cream scones.
Pauline Lancaster, International Organiser thanked Richard for his excellent
talk and presented him with a cheque. The event raised £1,150 for Solar Aid.
