District 8  Chairman’s Visit to Ely Club

District 8  Chairman’s Visit to Ely Club

At our September meeting we were pleased to welcome Deirdre Rothwell District Chairman.  Deirdre addressed the club, telling us of her life in Altringham where she was born and then training as a teacher in Liverpool. It was only after she married in 1982 that she moved to Suffolk.  Deirdre joined Inner Wheel 14 years ago and soon became Woodbridge club President and then on to the District Executive Committee as Editor and now District Chairman.  Deirdre encouraged us to get involved with 100 for 100 to celebrate the upcoming Centenary  of Inner wheel by suggesting even more 100 things we can do to help others. Deirdre’s Charity for the year is the Longford Trust, supporting ex prisoners as she has been a prison visitor holding discussion groups for the last 10 years.

President Pauline presented Deirdre with a cheque for her Charity the Longford Trust together with a gift of a paperweight of Ely Cathedral as a souvenir of her visit to Ely.    The meeting concluded with refreshments and fellowship.
