D5 IW Sale Making Comfort Hugs !

Earlier this year Liz, who is one of our members and ‘also an accomplished quilter’, volunteered to lead a couple of workshops to support us making quilts that we could donate to Project Linus UK.  Their motto ‘they make comfort hugs not a quilt.

Project Linus UK is run by a team of volunteer co-ordinators. Their dedicated Area Co-ordinators organise sewing and fundraising events across the UK, as well as liaising and distributing quilts and blankets to their local hospitals, children’s hospices, women’s refuges, foster carers, special schools, bereavement services and many other places where support is given to children ‘in need of a hug’. With hearts full of optimism we set forth!

Liz’s enthusiasm, expertise and above all patience spurred each  one of us on to complete our quilts which we then presented to the area Coordinators when they came to visit us to talk about Project Linus. We hope to continue our links with them making and donating quilts into the future for a very worthwhile cause.
