Moyra writes: It has been a decade since my Presidency of the Inner Wheel Club of Hazel Grove. I have seen many changes over that time. What has not changed is the kindness, friendships, fun and nurturing environment of our club. We all encourage and show care to all members, to make them feel part of our club. Of late, we have grown numerically and we have benefitted from new ideas and energy. Our club has a long tradition of theatre visits, and this continues with attending local plays and musicals. Our Social Committee plan interesting walks suitable for all abilities. Stockport’s social and political past will be explored in September. These times together deepen our understanding of each other, and enable us to enjoy time outdoors. Last month’s trip to Rochdale Town Hall was amazing, with all of us also enjoying superb food together. Some events in the IW calendar and ‘Orange the World’ in November-December is a worldwide focus to end violence against women and girls. This should challenge us.Being and feeling a valued member, and belonging to Hazel Grove Club is really special. I do hope that this year’s planning will touch and inspire all our members. My chosen Charity is ‘Pure Insight’ based locally in Hazel Grove and covering the North West area. It is supporting care experienced, or foster care experienced young people aged 16-28 years. Transitioning them into the adult world, and preparing them with long-term support for the challenges they will meet.
