D20 A new venture in Chard

The Inner Wheel Club of Chard’s inaugural Tea Dance was held at Jenny’s Café on Friday afternoon and was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by an age range spanning about 50 years!

A delicious slice of cake and a cuppa to music preceded the dancing which was started off by two lovely couples who had heard on the grapevine there was a “Tea Dance in Chard” and travelled quite a long way to be with us. They showed us how the ‘professionals’ take to the floor and were soon joined by everyone else doing their own thing.  The music ranged from 50s to 80s disco to other tunes to which dancers could waltz, cha cha and jive. Something for everyone!   The chatter went on throughout, some were so busy making new friends they hardly danced at all.

We were delighted at a couple of comments we received at the end of the afternoon “… I thought she was going to cancel on me as I know she was anxious. She had a brilliant time. I don’t think she’s danced in years. Thank you.”  and another  “It’s truly helped her mental well-being so much. I’m very grateful.”
