Welcome to a wonderful start to Barnstaple’s Inner Wheel year – a lovely traditional tea, good company, and money raised for North Devon Hospice!
Our club celebrated its 80th birthday in February, and President Sue Smith has kept the theme going alongside the end of the Second World War celebrations nationally. So many of us had special connections to that time, either as children themselves or with parents serving in the war. (Sue White was in the Navy herself, and she was justifiably proud showing us the memorabilia from the 2nd World War and her father’s role then.)
We would have had our bunting out, but the weather was just too ‘iffy’. Then, thankfully, of course, the wind dropped and the sun shone! Thanks are given to all who made this special afternoon possible for us all!
