Brenda Scourfield, a member of District 15, spoke to 203 pupils of years 12 and 13 at Queen Elizabeth High School, Carmarthen.
The group, divided into 4 lessons, were told about the United Nations initiative, Orange the World, raising awareness of the need to eliminate Violence against Women and Girls.
The young male students appeared shocked at the statistics.
They were rewarded after the lesson with chocolate oranges, Jaffa cakes, orange Kit Kat and orange biscuits kindly donated by Tesco in Carmarthen.
