D15 80th Anniversary Celebrations during a Heatwave!

The Inner Wheel Club of Maesteg recently celebrated their 80th Anniversary with a Lunch at The Old House 1147, Llangynwyd, Maesteg.

The Club was chartered on the 6th February 1946, with an event at the Imperial Cafe, also known as Tuckers, attended by the District Chairman at that time. The founder President was Mrs Enoch Rees, Vice President was Mrs Henry Sinclair, who later went on to be a District Chairman, Secretary Mrs Frank Harrison and 12 founder members.

Dr Elizabeth Jones was a member of the Maesteg Club, although she was a member of Bridgend whilst District Chairman. In recent years, Mary Davies, Menna Davies and Daphne Harries have all been District Chairmen.

Member of Council Pauline Minshull congratulated the Club on eight decades of their members giving their time, energy and talents to support their Community and uphold the ideals of Inner Wheel.

District Chairman Sonia Stevens presented Club President Menna with a certificate to mark 80 years.

Cutting the celebratory cake were the Club’s longest serving members Olwen Jones and Ann Holder.
