D13 – Orange the World

D13 – Orange the World

Inner Wheel members from D13, including  newest member, Alison, headed to Eastbourne at the end of October to run a stall at the joint Conference held by Rotary Districts 1120 and 1130.
Despite the cold, they were given a warm welcome in the main part. Members, who are also Rotarians, were able to explain to those who queried why Inner Wheel is still needed,  both the similarities between our organisations, and the important differences, and why Inner Wheel still has a vital role to play in the world today.

Great interest was shown in the display produced by Southgate member Sue Jessel, who had included information about the clubs in both Districts 12 and 13, and the fantastic achievements by members throughout GB&I, as well as promoting the United Nations Orange the World initiative.
District Treasurer Kim did well with her ‘guess the number of orange items’ jar; wristbands, Inner Wheel keyrings and tote bags were sold, and many leaflets were handed out.

Membership & Development Officer Carol and Kim ‘worked’ the crowds and were rewarded with a list of people who were interested in learning more about Inner Wheel and being put in touch with local clubs.
