D127 – Tessa becomes lyrical for OtW

Louth Inner Wheel member Tessa has written the poem below for Orange the World.

The Colour Orange by Tessa

Colour the Spire Orange
spread hope across the sky.
Make the people look up,
ask the question ‘Why’.

Colour St James orange
so, people can see
The United Nations chose this colour
So, women and girls could walk free.

Free from the violence
free from the shame
free from a life lived
where they carry the blame

When November spills into December
let us envisage a time
when women and girls say
‘The future is mine’
