Over 90 members from clubs across District 11 gathered at The Hamworthy Club for the District Meeting followed by lunch and the International Rally. There were various stalls and members were encouraged to bring various items to the meeting for onward distribution.
The craft stall was organised by the Guernsey Club and members from the Cosham Club ran the home produce stall,
Lymington Club members were in charge of the raffle and Havant Club managed the treasure hunt. Finally, Hythe and District ran the tombola and t the 5 stalls raised over £1300 which was distributed to The Tumaini Fund, The Sreepur Village Charity, Mary’s Meals, The Smile Charity and the Toilet Twinning Charity respectively.
Members showcased their knitting skills with an array of Twiddle Sleeves and teddies. Several bags of nearly new baby clothes were collected along with boxes of coins, used glasses and other knitted items.
After lunch we enjoyed a very interesting talk from Joanna Blake of Mary’s Meals and the most significant fact is that it costs £19.15 a year to feed a child which allows them to access school and there are 67 million primary aged children across the world who do not attend school but are hungry to learn.
