D20 Taunton Club’s 95th Celebratory Lunch

D20 Taunton Club’s 95th Celebratory Lunch

Congratulations to The Inner Wheel Club of Taunton who celebrated their 95th anniversary in the Paddock Room at Taunton Racecourse. The Club was formed in 1930 and  was one of the original 79 clubs founded in the country before Inner Wheel was given its Charter in 1934.
130 members from Inner Wheel Clubs, Probus, the Soroptimists, Tangent and specially invited guests attended, including the Mayor Mr. Martin Straus and his consort Mrs Lauraine  Newcombe. The guest of honour was the Rt. Honourable Ann Widdecombe DSG, who gave a speech covering her experiences in politics and of course Strictly Come Dancing. The talk was witty and immensely funny.  Miss Widdecombe sold many of her books during the event and gave a donation to the Club’s charity Breast Cancer Now.  The Orchard Restaurant provided an excellent meal and President Angela Snow thanked all her members who had contributed to the organisation of this event, all the guests for their support and the staff at the racecourse, for their excellent service.
