About District 21
District 21 can be found right in the heart of the Country. It covers the counties of Staffordshire, Shropshire and a part of the West Midlands known as the Black Country. Although the Black Country and surrounding areas are thought by many to be very industrialised and dismal that is far from the truth. We have areas of outstanding Natural Beauty including Cannock Chase, and The Shropshire Hills. This together with such attractions as Alton Towers, Black Country Living Museum, Ironbridge with its many museums, Shugborough Hall and Royal Airforce Museum Cosford make it a very interesting place to live or visit.
It also gives us a wonderful opportunity to serve the community whilst enjoying our surroundings and the friendship being a member of Inner Wheel can offer.
We currently have 12 clubs within our area all of whom are thriving enjoying friendship and fun together, both during their club meetings but also at events and special occasions organised as either fundraisers or just to enjoy each other’s company.

Welcome
I joined the Executive Committee of District 21 when I became District International Service Committee Chairman. I held this office for four years and enjoyed the work enormously. In particular the highlight each year was the responsibility of delivering a stimulating and interesting International Rally.
I am now privileged and proud to serve the District and Executive Committee as Chairman for 2026/27. I look forward to visiting Clubs and discovering how differently they are run but all with the same aim of ensuring Service with Friendship.
My theme this year is ‘Make a Difference’.
As members of Inner Wheel we can make a difference in so many ways. We can run a stall for a local charity, help with a dementia cafe, knit blankets for a local residential home, fill a shoe box to take to the International Rally, or simply offering support and friendship to another Inner Wheel member.
I know Clubs are very committed to supporting their own charities and communities and, therefore, I will not be nominating a specific charity of my own this year.
As we begin another Inner Wheel year we must ensure we enjoy the fun and friendship of membership. Inner Wheel is an extraordinary Organisation and each of us will, in whatever way we can, aim to ‘make a difference’.

Although I have not nominated a charity this year I would encourage members to support Association President Pat’s Charity, Papyrus. Papyrus works to prevent suicide amongst the young. All of its work is driven by the belief that suicide amongst the young can be prevented. In addition to its important preventative work it also runs HopeLine 24/7 – a free confidential helpline for those in need.
