D12 – Canterbury celebrate 100 years

The Inner Wheel Club of Canterbury (with 45 members) is currently the second oldest Club IN THE WORLD and so it was a cause for great celebration when in April it had its 100th birthday.
Club President Pauline Pybus welcomed guests to a Celebratory Luncheon at Darwin College, the University of Kent, on 8th April, to mark the occasion. The sun shone brightly!
Guests bringing birthday greetings included the Lord Mayor of Canterbury Cllr. Mrs Jean Butcher; the Lady Mayoress Mrs Di Baldock; Association Editor of Inner Wheel Clubs in GB & I Mrs Di Hylton; District Chairman Mrs Rosemarie Barnes for District 12 (Kent and East Sussex).  As for the international in-put, the International Inner Wheel President (from Calcutta) Mrs Mamta Gupta had written a letter of congratulation (Click here).
Club Correspondent Liz Jackson wrote to His Majesty King Charles III and received a reply. (Click here)

The three Rotary Clubs of Canterbury donated the three cakes which were served at the Luncheon
